The Yukon offers a wide variety of lakes and rivers. All of which boast the promise of many different species of fish, and surrounding scenery that will make every fishing trip worthwhile. Although, it would be quite a challenge to provide information on every lake out there, I will do my best to include some of the Yukon's greatest fishing spots.

On this page you can find links to many different lakes located around the Yukon. All of which contain pictures, info on fish species, and location information. My hope is that you will be able to click, discover, gain knowledge, and then get out there for some serious Yukon fishing!

Kusawa

Kusawa Lake

Kusawa Lake is located about 50 miles north of Whitehorse. This lake is about 57km long and, at the most, is about 2.7km wide. The scenery found on this lake is amazing. Gaint snow capped mountains surround this lake, as well as a mix of rocky cliffs and endless green forest. You definatly want to have a camera handy if your out here on a sunny day.

Fishing on this lake is a definite MUST for any fishing enthusiast. Species in this lake range from trout, northern pike, whitefish, and arctic grayling. You will definatly want to have a boat ready if you plan to take on this lake. While fishing from the shore is always fun, your going to want some transportation if you want to find any hotspots. This lake is huge!

In Tlingit, Kusawa means "long narrow lake," which is exactly what it is! Kusawa was formed by a glacier which scraped out its shadowy depths almost 10,000 to 50,000 years ago.

Marsh Lake

Marsh Lake

Marsh lake is located about 45 minutes south of Whitehorse, and is part of a chain of finger lakes called the "Southern Lakes." This lake is 30 kilometers long and about 3km wide. Some natable sites on this lake are Swan Haven and the Army Beach campground.

Fishing in this lake is great! Being connected to the "Southern Lakes" chain gives you access to many different fish species. Here you will find Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike, and Whitefish.

Jackson Lake

Jackson Lake

Jackson Lake is located about 45 minutes down the Fish Lake road, and is a relativly small lake. This lake was my 'number 1' camping spot last year, and while it didn't yield any fish, I still love returning to this spot. It's not a particularly windy spot, which means you can sit in the middle of the lake on a sunny day, throw out a line, and see what comes up.

Fish species to be found in Jackson Lake include Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, and Rainbow Trout.

There is also a little stream that feeds into the lake. I got lucky last year when I was out on my little inflatable boat. I caught a breeze that was blowing in the opposite direction of the flow of the stream. I paddled into the current which pushed me back out into the middle of lake. Then the wind would blow me right back into the stream. I went around in this 'lazy loop' for about 45 minutes before the wind shifted.
